Chipset Driver for my VAIO GRX 316MP

Hello,

i have a VAIO GRX 316MP NB (WinXP Prof. Ed. (german), SP2 + all Updates) an the following problem:

I bought me an USB memory stick. But my NB can't identify this. Under my device manager i can only see the point "unknown device". Also other USB sticks dont function.

Anybody tells me, that i must install a new chipset driver. But where i can find that?

I think someone may have misinformed you. The core chipset drivers are rarely updated.

You could try updating the BIOS - it is available from Vaio Link but remember that BIOS updates can go wrong and leave you with an unusable computer. Even if it all goes well it may not correct the problem.

Check that your USB ports are properly installed and working, if they are then I would personally return the USB memory dongle and try one from another manufacturer. I have the GRX316SP and memory dongles work OK on mine.

The chipset driver never got an update, the only thing motherboard related which did was the BIOS
