OK guys, here's a blast from the past.
I just got my picturebook PCG-C1F out of its box, but it won't boot.
The battery light comes on, so it's getting power and charging but nothing happens when the power switch is flicked.
Any ideas what might have gone wrong with it? I realise it's probably un-economic to send it for repair, but I don't mind having a go myself.
Opinions welcome.
Thanks, Martyn.
Try this:
Disconnect the AC line and then the battery.
Reinsert the AC line without the battery and then try and see if it will start. If it doesn't then its probably bust.
If it does work then disconnect the AC line and reinsert the battery and allow to charge for a while and then try again.

It lives.........sort of.
I left it connected with the battery light illuminated, went away for lunch and when I came back the light was flashing.
I flicked the power switch and after 2 bios beeps and time error it booted up.
Is the bios error due to the CMOS battery?
The battery shows charging, but holds no charge. Is it possible to kick start it it some way?
BTW.........Windows98 is unbelievably fast 😉
Thanks, Martyn.
Try and get into the BIOS - probably F2 and try and reset it (check also the time in there if you can see it - is it still ticking?)
