Supporto per Ubuntu

Non esiste alcun supporto per sistemi linux?
Non riesco ad esempio a regolare la luminosità dello schermo...o a far funzionare i tasti rapidi da tastiera su Ubuntu 8.04. C'è almeno qualche sito di riferimento a cui ricorrere?

PS: I understood you're talking about a brightness problem with your vaio.
Out of the box it woun't work,
would you please post your Vaio modell nR. including the grafic chipset name?

+ Did you install the e.g. Nvidia restricted 3d accelarated driver?
There are fixes for most Vaio modells to get things working !

in linux la luminosita la puoi passare come parametro direttamente al kernel. per fare cio, ti puoi avvalere del /proc

in parole semplici, se io voglio modificare il valore della luminosità, attualmente a 20, e voglio metterla a 100, devo semplicemente fare:

echo 100 > /proc/acpi/video/EVGA/LCD/brightness

pero non è per tutti uguali. ogni scheda video ha il suo set di valori.
questo set di valori, li puoi vedere facendo ad esempio :

cat /proc/acpi/video/EVGA/LCD/brightness

a questo punto, dovresti avere 2 linee. una con una lista dei valori possibili e l'altra con il valore corrente.

ATTENZIONE. non tutti i s.o. e relative versioni utilizzano lo stesso percorso per brightness.
se non lo trovi nella posizione indicata, puo darsi che si trovi in un'altra posizione.

poi facci sapere se hai risolto

yeah... is't very easy but it 100% work
i don't use gnome and i never use gnome-power 😞
but if he give the name of the graphich chipset... is more simple to help

Ho lo stesso problema sul mio VGN-FW11E, Ubuntu 8.10. Ho aperto anche un bug su launchpad ma ancora nessuno mi calcola 😞

Tutto funziona alla perfezione (compiz compreso con gli ultimi ATI (8.552)) ma i tasti FN proprio non ne vogliono sapere di funzionare. Anche cercando di far riconoscere il tasto tramite xev non aiuta e sul dmesg alla pressione delle varie combinazioni (FN+F5 e/o F6) non compare nulla.

@benste: ATI 3470HD, latest ati fglrx (from canonical), compiz works ok, but the brightness doesn't. Almost FN combinations keys doesn't work.

in a terminal?

If there will be a code on pressing FN Keys they'll work, they're just not configured !

You talked about Ubuntu? But you don't use gnome???
What are you using?
Gnome including gnome-power is the default interface!
