Bravia KD43X85JU recording

I’ve recently bought this Google TV. I’ve also bought a hard drive that is working for recording. I was very surprised to find that I could only watch the channel that I was recording. Unless I can change this it means that I have wasted nearly £50 on the hard drive?

Yeah, to record a channel and watch another at the same time the TV needs to have dual tuners.

Also, this can be used if you want to record a program at night when you're sleeping.

A lot of people use only 1 tuner recording, so you might find a useful use for it that suits you with enough time.

This TV has only one tuner, so what you want to do is impossible, you should try to find a model in this size that spot a dual tuner to be able to watch a different channel while recording.

Thanks for the answer. It is very annoying that Sony tell you about recording on a hard drive but leave out the fact that there is no point in wasting money on it. The whole point of recording is for when 2 programmes clash.

It may not be helpful for your use case, but recording a program while not present or  maybe sleeping can be helpful for others. The Twin tuner is a feature present in higher spec TV model, not in yours unfortunately.
