KDL-43WF663 purchased 5mths ago. BBC iPlayer stopped working 2 days ago.
Other services YouTube, ITV player etc continue to work OK. BBC iPlayer is working fine on iPad.
I've tried switching off at mains, re-starting WiFi Router, re-starting TV. Even did a Factory re-set! But still BBC iPlayer is present but not working as before. It lets you browse and select a program, then it buffers for several minutes before displaying a message: "Something went wrong playing this program. If it continues, try checking your internet connection or changing the video quality in settings"
Has anyone else experienced this, and how did you fix it.
I came across some reference to 'Internet Cache' on the WWW but what is that and does it need clearing out?
Hey there,
Have you tried to refresh the internet content as well? Home - Settings - System Settings - Set-up - Network - Refresh Internet Content.
Also, I know that you said that the internet is working fine, but it's also worth it to test via Hotspot through your phone just to make sure.
Hope this helps.
Hi @Allan69
Please note that you may have bought this TV 5 months ago but it is a 2018 model. If you haven't updated the software then the iPlayer will be out of date. Please check the firmware and let us know if it is up to date?
Thank you, SonyUser30Yrs,
I've checked that, too. Options > System Information > Software version shows:
v 8.616.1000-2.750-0002
Thank you SkyNet404,
My Settings menu is not the same as you describe (I'm on Software version 8.616.1000.2.750-0002)
I get Home > Settings > Network Setup > { View Network settings and status
{ Set up Network Connection
Can't find how to reach Internet Cache.
Any ideas?
Hey there, 616 should be the latest version for UK. Also, when you go to Network, don't go to Network setup, scroll down you should find ''Refresh Internet Content''.
Hello
Yes I'm having the same issues. BBC iPlayer not loading at all or, when it does, it goes as far as letting you select and then buffers for several minutes before displaying the "Something went wrong" message.
This is one of many problems we've had with this TV - we won't be buying another Sony after this, I'm sorry to say.
I've tried refreshing internet content and checking for software updates. Sometimes we have problems which resolve after a couple of days, which suggests to me there's been a delay in the TV accessing some new update.
It's all very frustrating and I'm sorry I can't help.
