Sony Xperia Neo - Google Voice Actions Not Working

I got my Neo 2 days ago and voice actions only seem to work for a google search or for navigation. I can't get it to send a text or make a call - it always just does a voice search, i.e. if i say 'call amy' it will do a google search for 'call amy'. I can't get it to call a local business as advertised in the video, either, even though my GPS is enabled.

I have read a few other blogs which says it may be something to do with synching contacts, but I'm pretty sure mine are already synched (in settings> accounts & synch the google icon is ticked green)

Any help would be much appreciated!

Go to

settings -> voice input & output settings -> you migth to download pico TTS from the market

and also try this app

I am in the UK and have the same issue, all it does is search the web - watched the tutorial and was really excited but believe the full functionality is only available in the US.  I have downloaded Voice Actions by Pannnous from the market today and will have a play with that.  Uli, couldn't find the app you suggested in my market?!

OK much weirdness ensues... the app I downloaded didn't really work so gave that up as a bad job.  Then I read the page online for Voice Actions and changed my phone language to English US and if I use a very odd American accent it will let me send texts, find map etc - I think my Sarf (south) East London accent is too much for it to decipher!!!!  Not quite figured out the call bit yet but I will carry on playing.

Downloaded the app and it works so much better! Still really difficult to get it to call people though - it doesn't recognise most of my contacts names. Hopefully they will bring out some kind of accent patch as i really wouldn't want to have to do the dodgy accent thing in public, and if you can't use it in public it's not really worth having as that is when it would be most convenient! Very annoying that i had to download a seperate app though, have had to place the widget on my homepage and looks very cluttered... Thanks both.

I can sympathize but it will take them time to add accent packs for everyone. In the meantime, it might work if you add phonetic "nicknames" to your contacts so that it can recognize your normal pronunciation of names -- I haven't tried this though.

Hello, I have a week the new Xperia, and I'm a new entry in this site. I hope I have posted in the right area. Doing an upgrade to the speech, I installed Pico TTS, but now I can not uninstall it, to return to ITA normal voice. How can I do? Thank you for your answer, gice1234.

you can go to settings -> applications -> manage applications -> all and look for it
