I purchased the SONY M4 AQUA on 26Oct2015, after 8-9 months the device started having heat problems, the SIM slot was also not working properly and the device was getting hanged while opening even basic application. Hence I decided to get it checked at the SONY Service Centre on 14Aug2017. Then my device was kept by the Service Centre for 2 weeks and told me that a part was replaced. But the problem stated again after a month. Now on 26Apr2017 the phone is completely dead. It is not showing any sign of charging and after consulting the Service Centre I found that the Motherboard of the phone is dead and need to be replaced. I am very upset with the kind of product I bought. At same time angry and hapless about the kind of product made by SONY. Therefore after facing so many issues, I think the phone is only made to last just the warranty time and not further. I feel cheated on the kind of phone I bought as I bought it with SONY brand tag in mind, and expected to last quite long going according to the band value SONY. I still hope to hear something from you in response of this issue.

I had the same issue. I bought my phone in June 2015. The microphone wasn't working so I could take calls only on speaker. The basic function of using phone for calls had issue!. I took my phone to the service centre, they kept it for a week or 2 and gave me a replacement. In Dec 2016, it got switched off. This had happened before so pressing volume and power off button would turn it back on. But not this time. It's gone for good.

Took it to service centre again. They kept it for a week and said motherboard needs to be replaced. Making a phone water and dust proof is great but how about making it work long with no issues.

So disappointed!!

Same with me, just a week ago, my M4 aqua also dead, when after i played a game with it and the phone was going so hot, so i let it cooldown, when the next day i turn the display on, ive got a message that app error but the the phone still responding, but i cant open any app, the message error will appear anytime i opened any apps, and then i restart and suddenly the phone freezing at sony logo. I left it like that and charge it. several days later M4 still same like that, its still freezing till the battery drained out. maybe after a week, the phone has dead permanently, cant charge or turn on anymore, im pretty sure this Xperia M4 is got failure with the hardware, i use this phone not more than 2 years, but its already dead, even my SE xperia walkman, x8 and x10 still working till today, so dissapointed. I used to be a sony fan boy because i thought sony only make the best quality products, but this one is the real garbage smartphone i ever known, and yeah, i will never buy any sony products anymore.

The phone is totally dead after 15 months. The service centre is charging around 9000 Rs. which is very much impossible for me to afford. I'm feeling really helpless. Don't understand what to do with this phone.
