Gents I am experiencing annoying issue on my M2.My storage is used to be full and I can not install new apps from play store regardless I have 10 GB free space on SD card.

I went to settings and tried to move apps manually but this option is just greyed! Remember I am not talking about in-built apps as whatsnew etc

Funny thing is that some app (WhatsApp) are installed on SD card and another ones such as locus map are not.

I can not believe I have to root Android OS.

It seems to be matter of app as some capability or whatsoever.

Any advice would be highly welcomed but I do not want to root my Android!!

Hi @andyxxl,

When you install a app from Google Play Store you will always install it to your internal storage. There is no settings to change this to install apps to a external storage such as a SD card.

To move a app to a SD card once installed, go to: Settings > Storage > Transfer data to SD card. Note that it is up to the developer of each individual app to enable being able to transfer the app to a SD card.

I do know this fact how to move app in settings.

But the problem is that some apps are not movable to SD card at all.

As I have mentioned some apps as skype are installed on external SD card by default some as Chrome browser are just put into internal memory and not movable at all.

My question would be why some are ending up at internal memory and another ones on external SD card...why and why? It has nothing to do with rooting I think, it seems as matter of app and its capablities.

Is possible that developer of app put in code location where shall be app installed then?

Nobody has comment to this annoying issue on M2 whilst some apps are not movable to external SD card and some are directly installed on SD card? How android or playstore decide where to install app?
