RDR-HXD 970 was stuck in update. I am not a techie but followed the advice from posts below and switched it on. It flashed the word 'LOCKED' and then update. I pressed the stop and on/standby together several times and it did not change - but then pressed the stop and held it down. It then flashed up 'UNLOCKED' and the thing fired up and the HDD blue light came on. I checked the programme guide and it all came up as it should do so I have not re-tuned it. I have not tried to record anything yet - but am hopeful it is now sorted.
