Anyone able to help? I tried Sony a long time ago but they were not interested. If you find this you have probably found the fault with the CD player shutting down the unit when the CD tray door is closed.
I could not find a solution anywhere online but I suspect it is a power fault and that the demand made by the CD unit spinning up the disk causes it to shut down. Funnily (?) enough the unit spins up the CD when you select Audio In or tape as well - someone really should explain the difference to the manufacturer!!
If you leave the door open you can use the other features and you will be able to collect dust at the same time... perhaps I should suggest that my local bank uses a Sony security system!!
The good news is that my family will never buy another Sony product again so the profits lost will massively exceed the cost of supporting customers. I really like my new HiFi and big screen TV for example.
It is a shame because the unit is otherwise OK.
