Youview overhaul

I know there is a lot of attention around the new MM update but I'm just wondering if we'll see this new youview update on the bravia/android platfrom?

Hi there

Sony has not made any decisions in regards YouView updates/development, however at the moment I will say 'unlikely'

Cheers

There are journalists' reports that Sony have been shown it, but that is as much as I know at present.

But the Sony YouView interface is already more graphical than YouView CurrentGen, as the original version was known, shares the screen transparency model of NextGen, which the Engadget piece is about, and does not have the My TV (Scheduling, Recording and Playback), Your TV (ISP-specific extra content, much of it by subscription) and Settings features, leaving the largely unchanged EPG and Search facilities, and the Discovery that has not yet made it into NextGen.

So not much room to change anything really, except for a bit of typography that is neither here nor there.

The accuracy of the Engadget piece, by the way, can fairly be judged by the comment about the YouView app, which has always been as able to remotely schedule recordings in CurrentGen; and at the moment, there is nothing new about the way it works with NextGen.

YouView Superuser, but not an employee of YouView, nor retained by them for this purpose. It's purely me speaking
