USB hard drive stops working about 3/4 of the way through a movie. 50X86K

USB hard drive stops working about 3/4 of the way through the movie. I can click on the movie, and it will start playing again from the point in which it stopped. I believe the error was "cannot read file". This has happened 2 times on different movies. The rest of the movie plays fine after re-starting.

I have done all the updates to the newly purchased TV

Model 50X85K

Serial number 4042642

Portable hard drive is a Seagate 1Tb NTFS file system

Located in California

I don't have a clue about California laws but in Europe is forbidden to download movies onto personal devices and talk about them in public forums. Unless is copy of a legally owned bluray and you should describe better which codec and container you are using

Does the HDD have its own power source, the TV may not supply enough power to an HDD

through the USB port.

Have you tried other HDD drives with your TV. with the same movies, to me it sounds more like an HDD problem.

Have you tried playing the same movies from the HDD on a computer or perhaps other TV.

@rooobb What are you? The police?

How do you know it’s not a home movie?

If this is the case, simply state which codec/container you used to create it
