Can I ask you if you had any luck resolving this? We have a four month old Bravia KD43xh8505 and find that sometimes the subtitles seem to get stuck on. We do use subtitles for watching e.g. Scandi dramas and sometimes for other programmes if the speech isn't clear, but having them on when watching the news is a nightmare. When the button on the remote is not functioning it is also impossible to turn off the subtitles in the settings. We usually go through the unplug/reset/play around with menus and eventually manage to get them turned off but it is very frustrating. It would be great to have a simple reliable solution (and even better if the problem were to be resolved permanently!)
