KD-65XE9005 no Youview

Hi, I have the KD-65XE for a number of years. Is there any way I can enable Youview on this? Cannot find it anywhere and believe it was released to all Android TVs in 2015. Thanks

Hi there,

 

Thanks for that. The reset worked with the three-button press. A complete factory reset done now and still not youview. I do have a TV and I have a program guide button but that's it. I searched the app store and no youview either. Maybe it's not available but I thought it was packaged with the updates! Thanks

Perhaps what we all have been missing is that flag on your avatar @oreillyma 😢

 

If I don’t miss my guess you are in the ROI, and YouView wasn’t released to ‘all Android sets’ just to all UK Android sets.

 

Is it possible that your set is a non-UK TV? @Joe_Dohn are there, or were there, separate Eire-specific models, or some other mechanism for restricting YouView to UK users?

Yes indeed, I am based in Ireland. I do have another newer Sony set and YouView is on that. I assumed it was just the TV version. Maybe I should have selected the UK in the install instead of Ireland 😉.

Thanks for pointing out the post linking, didn't actually cross my mind. 🤷🏻‍♂️

 

I don't recall any way of restricting YouView for Ireland vs the UK as they're supposed to be identical models, but @oreillyma was absolutely correct about the reset, that's pretty much the only way to get the region changed for the TV.

 

Do let us know if that fixes it for you though @oreillyma, we can try passing this to Sony to see if this is normal behaviour or if something needs to be done about that.

I am afraid not. Done a factory reset via the side buttons and selected UK as the country on the install. Disabled location services just in case but nada. No youview in the menu or anywhere else for that matter. Have checked everywhere. Tried even looking for it on sony select and the apps store but no go. I do have the TV icon and program guide but that's it. Looks like youview is just not available on the build for my TV even though it says it's been packaged since late 2018!

Try clearing the cached data (Device Preferences - Storage - Internal Shared Storage - Cached data) followed by holding the power button for a reset.

 

Have you also tried a factory reset from the menu after the buttons one? The forced reset doesn't actually do a full reset, so it's worth a shot (unless you already did of course).

 

Hopefully, if this is a software bug, this should completely squash it.
