Just a few obvious? suggestions. Are you sure the wireless connection is
disabled, is the cable quality good ---try another,, have you got a
permanent IP address my Router lets me do this,, do you frequently switch
the TV and or router off, if so don't and switch updates off and only do
if/when you want to.

Cheers

I have replaced the cable at least 3 times and still havd the problem. The TV that this replaced still connects OK via cable into the router from another room. The old TV is also a Bravia. The old TV also connects via WiFi and the new one won't. The router rarely gets turned off. The TV is left on standby when not being watched. I am convinced that there is a real issue with this TV.

I suspect you're right. I tell everyone not to buy Sony, great picture,
rubbish software,rubbish support.

Just as a matter of interest do you have any USB devices plugged in like a
wireless mouse. I did but that screwed everything up.

No USB devices used.

Once the TV disconnects, can you connect it to a Wi-Fi Hotspot? If you can, the issue may be related to your router's configuration rather than the TV. Especially since the issue can be resolved by a factory reset, which indicates the hardware and software are fine.

No. It won't connect to WiFi either as an alternative when this happens or after a factory reset.

Everything else works fine from being hardwired to the router. I have even swapped connections on the router with other devices that work, and that doesn't make any difference either.

In this case, I suggest the following troubleshooting checklist for anyone with the same network issue on Sony TVs:

NOTE: Use the Network Diagnostics guide to test the connection before moving from one step to the next.

Note2: The below assumes the TV can initially connect to the network, at least briefly.

1- Power cycle the TV by disconnecting it from the mains for a minute.

2- Make sure the TV is running the latest software version listed on the Support Page by searching with the model number

3- Verify if the issue happens on both Ethernet and WiFi (if possible).

4- Confirm that the Date and Time settings remain accurate and to set the time in line with the Network (on Android TVs).

5- Try connecting the TV to a Wi-Fi hot spot (using a smart phone, preferably on 4G/5G). If this step works, contact your ISP for help configuring the Home network properly.

6- This may require assistance from your ISP; but you can try setting the DNS server and IP address manually in line with your router/network configuration.

7- Reset the TV to factory settings.

The idea here is to cover all grounds related to this type of issue in a methodical way. If the issue remains, contacting Sony with the above steps will help focus their efforts to providing more possible solutions or even a software update if necessary.

This tv is the biggest pile of crap ive ever purchased. My lg and samsung work like a dream compared to this junk.

I updated the firmware this morning ,convinced this would be the end of the internet connection issues . How wrong was i?

Still the same crap Sony. Ethernet keeps dropping out etc etc. Even alexa refuses to turn on this lump of horse *****.

Hi @pritchsas which model do you have and what software version are you running atm?

Try going through the same checklist I listed in my previous reply.

I have a Sony Bravia 32wd756 32inch Led TV.

The software version is V8. 219-1000-1.330-01

I have been through the above checklist with no effect.

  • It has been stable for about 2 weeks now, so am expecting it to lose its Internet connection any time soon.
