Operating system CD

I got a new sony vaioN38E/W on last week.
But they didn't send me the OS compact disc.
In future, some thing got corrupted then how do i install the OS for my machine.
please help me out.

hi with sony vaio they have what they call a recovery console on the harddrive
if you go in start - all programs - vaio recovery tool
then you will find it

You will have to create your own recovery discs.

I am using windows vista. can i use the DVD for creating this disc.

in that case, How many DVDs required for creating this disc?

Please can you help me out.

And also right now i have C:\ drive.i would like to partiion into C and D drives.
is it possible to parition without disturbing the existing data.
Becoz usually partion will made before installing the OS..
pls...

hi it usually takes 2 dvd disks 1st the windows 2nd the programs

and if it is not already set as c: and d:then it will be best to keep it how it is to be on the safe side
