Vista won't shut down?

When the little ring thing just rotates and rotates hour after hour and the screen says "shutting down" but it never does....until I press the off switch. Then it worries when you start up again.

Any ideas?

I have a AR21S upgraded to Vista.

thats happened to me before. does this happen every time. i think i need some more information about this problem 😃

Well, I doesn't happen every time but it happens most times.
I can't say more right now but I'll check over the next few shut downs and see if it happens when there are programmes still open at the time of shut down, as opposed to nothing being open at all.

Hi Meld,

You may be able to identify what causing your Vaio to hang by opening Task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) then highlight a process and then click end process..

Adawares adwatch sometimes over enthusiastically prevents shut down so right click on the task bar and go into processes as Thalamus has demonstrated and click on adwatch.exe and >end process> confirm and then shut down in the pane in the task manager
