Power options on AS-31M query

I have my power options set to Turn off the display when plugged in after 20 mins.

I have my screensaver set to kick in after 10 minutes, but for some reason when my screensaver is on, the display never turns off, and the screensaver stays on all the time, is this an issue? Does the display not turn off if screensaver is active?

It is possible some process is running in the background so the screen will never power down because the Vaio is never idle.

Try turning off the startup items in MSCONFIG and see if the Vaio powers down. If it does then turn the items back on one at a time until you find the culprit.

I have a vague memory that a MS Update was released to rectify this problem - but it may have been an optional one!
