Using recovery disks

When you use the recovery disks I know that it takes you back to the point of when you first bought your laptop/computer but does it go as far as the time it asks you to enter your computer's name etc.

My laptop is a ex display but i still seem to see the shops name in the directory from time to time even though i thought I got rid of it by changing the computer name and full computer name.

I would like to do a recovery anyway because things are a bit messy and I wouild like to start from scratch so I its sorts out my "issue" it would be a bonus

Hi vaioAR61M,

welcome to Club VAIO..

Yes running the Vaio Recovery will erase all data from your HDD and then restore your Vaio back to the original as new factory settings..

Will it prompt for the name etc or will it bypass that and just restore to factory settings keeping the names?

yes it should prompt for the name, etc as it would on starting a Vaio for the first time..

hi, I might try this tomorrow but I have a question, what are the chances of something going wrong? If some sort of error eccours is it easily recoverable?

Can't say 100% but you shouldn't have a problem..

I made 3 copies on 2 types of disks just in case
