Memory Stick + Vista = Crash

Any time i insert my memory stick duo pro into the memory card reader on my vaio fw11s, the whole laptop crashes immediately. I dont know if the problem is to do with the driver, the hardware, or vista. I dont know what to do about it. Please help!!!

Hi stainlessn1 and welcome.

All I can suggest is to reinstall the Memory Card Reader Writer Driver which you will find either in your C:\Drivers directory or you can download it from here: -

If that fails to fix it: -

1. Try another MemoryStick to see if it's the particular module you are trying.
2. Phone Sony support here: -

Sony Vaio-Link Support

I expect Sony will ask you to recover the system software on your Vaio before they will investigate further.

Update: i tried a 2gb memory stick and it worked fine. Seems it doesnt work for my 4gb memorysticks.
How strange
