hi all
have been given a sony vaio laptop for my daughter ,but can not find link to it so can not find out what spec it has , model number is pcg-6g2m,intel centrino sticker on bottom right corner,13inch screen pleas help as need to do a clean install .looked on sony site says nothing found web search also nothing very strange

Hi pele66 and welcome to Club Vaio.

The reason you cannot find anything is because PGC-6G2M is the chassis number. The model number is usually on the screen surround.

I think you have a VGN-S4 Vaio, possibly the VGN-S4M.

The Vaio may have a Recovery Partition on the hard drive. If this is intact, you can reformat and return the Vaio to factory condition by tapping F10 during boot. You will have a few updates to install!!

If you need to do a clean install with a retail version of XP, the Drivers and Utilities can be downloaded but the original software will be lost.
