surely someone out there knows how to increase the volume on this machine
Even my I tunes is not worth listening to if there is any background noise at all EG: Airoplane or train
HELP!!

I have the same problem. I own a VGN-CR21Z/N. I assumed the only solution was to connect an external speaker / high quality headphones.

Most Vaios have an adjustment to Default Speaker Volume in the BIOS. I think it is set to 4 by default and can be increased to 8.

Another solution is to use a player that has a pre-amp included. Something like VLC Player: -

Have increased volume to max still quiet.
Thanks for the link to the amplified software.
I assumed I would have to use external amplification.

External speakers are the only really reliable answer. The other solutions may be helpful to some mobile users.

I have bought Vaio FZ21M several days ago I was also surprised how the sound is still. I guess external speakers with some amplifier would be the way to go. However it is nice machine.
