Sony Vaio Black Screen Please HELP

I currently have a Sony Vaio, model svE1512J6EW and I am having problems with the screen, when I turn it on nothing comes up on the screen but I can hear tat it is turned on. Someone has said there might be a lock on the screen or something but I can't work it out. Can someone give me some help Please!!!!

Hi alexlatimer,

I don't think you will find that a lock on the screen has anything to do with the problem.

Try attaching an external monitor. If this works then you have either a faulty LCD monitor, a cabling problem or a failed inverter. To check whether it is the inverter try shining a torch on the screen - do you see a feint image?

It still doesn't come up with anything when plugged into an external monitor. I took it back to the shop and they got the screen working again, then I shut it, took it home and the screen wouldn't come on . So I thought there must be some sort of lock on the screen.
