Hi,

I own a Sony Vaio VPCEB3L9E Black. Last night, i was computing grades in Microsoft Excel when the laptop suddenly freezed. I powered it off using the power button. I turned it on, and the boot process was very long. I got stuck on the welcome screen. I restarted and tried safe mode. Safe mode was very slow and sometimes unusable. I scanned for viruses but there were none. I also didn't install new programs recently.

I recently read in a forum that said that a laptop was stuck on a boot process and also tried safe mode. after getting into safe mode, they uninstalled avast antivirus and the laptop started functioning normally. Coincidentally, my laptop also has avast antivirus.

I haven't tried uninstalling it yet because there are some critical files and spreadsheets i need and i am scared that i will lose those files. What should i do?
