topic spyware??? in PCs & Accessories

spyware???

When I logged on to my newly refurbished VGN T2XP this am, I was informed by <<SPYWARE CLEANER>> that I had some 71 viral infections lurking in my computer.
This, despite my Newton Security, and firewall all hard at work protecting me.
So:
1) Did I want these removed, it asked...
2) Yes, I replied
3) Then, please register, it prompted
4) Okay, I obliged
5) By paying some $49....it continued
6) Ooooppps, I thought ....am I being had. Let me check with my co-horts in VAIO Club.
Any tips?
Grateful for your insight.....

erm....... go to http://www.download.com/

search for Spybot S&D and Adaware and take a spyware-scan with these scanners. They working fine on my VAIO.
And uninstall this <<SPYWARE CLEANER>>.

Go to www.lavasoft.com and download Ad-Aware SE its excelent and free it works fine on my Vaio Notebook.

Wow!----seb21&robertothegreat - tried adaware, and it worked a treat - said I had no infections. I am grateful! Will double check with spybotS+D........................

Also have a look at ,Spyware blaster this protects your system from the initial infection. I use spybot as well.
