How to convert Handycam tapes to digital?

I would like to convert my mini DV tapes to DVD's, however my camcorder no longer works. I can't seem to find any device that will help me in this process. I don't want to send my tapes to a company through the mail to have it done in case they loose them! Any suggestions?

Hello @FridayPJ,

if your camcorder you used for recording is broken and you don't want to send the tapes in, I would recommend to purchase a used camcorder with the same tape-format from ebay to then connect it to a capture card and convert your tapes.
