Hi

Since the program is what is causing the restriction, I would have a look on the Apple website for either any info on compatibility or updates. Since '11 products are new on the market, it may take some time for updates to be available.

Best thing I would rather do is browse the Handycam manually then paste them to a backup folder someone on your computer. Then rather than iMove importing from the Handycam, you can just pick a folder unless Apple come up with an update which will recognise.

If you do plan to go down the manual route, there should be a folder called "STREAM". Sadly I cannot remember the exactly directory but all content will be in there.

Hope that gets you going.

I´m trying to transfer my AVCHD files from my HDR-XR550VE to my new MACBOOK PRO. IMOVIE11 does not recognize the camera, but IPHOTO11 recognizes it and imports all the pictures. Anyone knows what I need to do to import the movie files to the MACBOOK.

As we know, AVCHD is not a good editing format. It is common that iMovie 11 can't surpport HDR-XR550VE import. So I have been using a convert software to help me convert AVCHD from Sony to ProRes/AIC MOV for importing and editing in FCP/FCE/iMovie on Mac. I have never met the importing problem.
