Z1 screen blackout and total non-responsive after firmware update

I don't know if this is related to yesterday's firmware update but today while I was using my Xperia Z1 this morning, the screen faded very quickly to black and now is totally black (but I can tell it is still on becasue if I tilt the screen it looks greyish). The on/off button does nothing, when I plug it in to charge, no response and when I plug it into the PC it is not recognised! HELP!!

You're not the only one. Others reporting dead Z1 after Kit Kat install. Mines currently at a Sony Repair Centre.

Do this:Connect to wall socket,charge for 2 hours,force shutdown(power button+vol up until the phone vibrates 3 times).Turn it on.

connect to wall charger..open sd card flap push and hold off button untill phone vibrate..then let it charge for 1-2 horse

after that t ry software repair via sus

You could try a repair with either PCC or SUS.

hmm I have Z1 C6903 but I cannot find the firmware for this on the SUS...which one am i supposed to use?

SOL23 is the japanese-only version of z1 right? the fact that the firmware model isnt the same makes me wonder if I can just live with it and see if it freaks out again (now that you kindly told me how to regain control of a catatonic Xperia )

It seems that SOL23 fits with Z1 and not Z1s(C6916).You could try a repair.
