The Z1 as other Xperias come with an ASF (Anti-shatter film) on both panels, if you remove it you will void the warranty and the Sony and Xperia logos will come off, also the ASF it is NOT scratch resistant, so you should apply a scratch resistant film on top, if you remove the ASF the phone will remain waterproof.

Hey guys I have currently a Xperia S, but I am planning to buy a Z1, but as we all know Xperia comes with a pre_installed screen protector my question is will the z1 remain its warranty and the water resistant?. Thanks and have a good day

I'm no expert but as the (pre installed) protector on my z1 only covers the glass on front and back if it were removed it wouldn't expose any areas for water to enter. It would probably invalidate the warranty but you'd need someone else to confirm. On a side note I had the Xperia S for 2 years with everyday normal use and no marks/scratches on the screen at all. Had my z1 for 3wks (same type of usage) and there's already a scratch on the protector and I've no idea how/when it could have happened. Annoying.

Answers doesn't seem correct to me. Back side protector comes pre installed but front protector comes in box, it is your choice to install sony's protector or another one to front panel. And sony logos won't come off. Only the Xperia logo will come off if you remove back side protector

@senhor in some countries/carriers there's an extra film protector, this is only in certain markets, and this is NOT the ASF, the ASF its preinstalled on both panels

I'm certain that there is, you will have to look at the edge of the screen and you will see it, take a picture and use macro, then zoom in, you will see it

Yeah, to correct my earlier post and agree with uliwooly the ASF (S standing for shatter not scratch) which is on my Xperia S is on the front and back of my Z1.
**goes off to install protective screen to the Z1**
