Hello, I have a small question regarding the battery
charge.
How bad for the xperia z1 is to leave it charging during the night with the charger that comes with the phone? Does it really kill the battery? If it does how quickly it does.it?
Anymore advices to keep a good battery life?

Thankyou very.much!

These are new tech batteries,no overcharging them.Never let them discharge completely(0%),connect the charger when battery is between(1-10%).Charge your phone until it says "full charged" in settings-about phone. Also, you can charge it often, but not to full everytime.Do not use battery savers, task killers or any apps like that. You have the inbuilt battery savers(stamina mode, low battery mode).

Thanks for the reply,

im just running Battery Doctor" to keep a look into my battery and I think it teaks the charging aswell, also to manage diferent profiles.. not using task killer or anything. You think I should uninstall it?

My problem is that im used to leave my phone charging while im sleeping, every night. usually my battery is around 20% (if played games or videos for a while) when I get home... I read that I should empty the battery once a month.. so I shouldnt do that?

So,

No battery doctor?

chargin everynight while I sleep (00:00 to 7:00) is bad?

empty the battery once a month?

quick charges are ok?

sorry about all these questions, I just want to take full advantage of my phone. and thanks for taking time to answer

cheers!

This thing with emptying the battery is controversed, some say it is recommended, some say that the more you let the battery drain completely, you will never get it back to charge to 100% full.I suggest you disable battery doctor, see how it goes. For the 7 hours charge every night,it is kind of much. The battery takes about 2-3 hours to fully charge(depending on how much you have when connecting to charger). Also, quick charges recommended(ex from 39 to 70,do not cross the 90% limit where it says charged).

I have the phone since november last year, and I always use the magnetic dock to charge my phone every night only to take it out in the morning. I had no problems with the battery life for the past month of usage. I always get almost 16 hours of use everyday.

It will not affect drastically, these batteries will not charge after they have reached 100%,but there is no need. That is why I told you.But in long term,it may affect them.

To OP,

Considering Xperia Z1 is a phone with sealed Li-Ion polymer hybrid battery, you might want to make best use of its available life.

Simple tips to follow and few things to comprehend:

1. Try maintaining the battery level between 40 - 80 %. That's the sweet spot between getting most number of charge / discharge cycles and battery life per charge. Unless you're travelling somewhere where you readily won't have access to a plug point, avoid charging above 80 % when the charger begins to charge the battery at > 3.7V.

2. Shallow discharges don't harm Li-Ion batteries. These batteries don't suffer from memory effect like Ni-Cd / Ni-MH cells.

3. Avoid deep discharges and recharging above 80%. Deep dischages and full discharges will get you a anywhere between 150~250 cycles. On the other hand staying in that 40 - 80 % could give you 2500 + cycles depending how shallow the discharges have been.

4. Consider doing a full discharge to full charge cycle once in a month or once in 2 months to maintain the digital calibration.

5. Strictly avoid running the phone (performing intensive tasks) with the phone plugged in or keeping the phone plugged in overnight.

Refer http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries for detailed information.

what about the charger itself?

the Z1 comes with a 1000mAh charger. most charger on the market are 850mAh so i guess it is safe to use those expecting longer charging time?

my main concern is about 2A chargers. they will provide faster charge but are they safe to use?
