Phone won't recognise USB camera

IvI' Ibought an external USB camera for DIY purposes, loaded the app (CameraFi2) but my X5 compact won't recognise the camera, works fine on my mate's cheap Samsung. Any ideas please?

Probably a compatibility issue, you might want to double check with the app developer
