keyboard typing problems.

Hi I've been having problems with the keypad/board on my xperia z3. It's become vague when typing as If my fingers have doubled in size and the wrong letters are coming up. Such as press the U key and I'll get either Y or I. The W key has simply ceased to work at all now.
I've read the articles where it says go into settings, select apps and then all, thats where I come a cropper. I don't have the all bar.
Where do I go from here? Many thanks.

Sorry to hear about the Keyboard, let's see if we can help resolve this issue.

I believe the information you are referring to is about clearing the keyboard app data. Try the below.

Apps > Settings > Apps > Press the 3 circles at the top right > Tap Show System > Find the keyboard you are using e.g. Xperia Keyboard, Xperia International Keyboard or Swift keyboard > Press Storage > Clear Data

I have similar problem, keyboard is not working properly. Even certain alphabets like Q, T are not working at all. Some times I have to rotate phone to type. when I rotate space bar does not work.

Infact for last three days I am also finding problem in receving calls. The green tab to swipe for receiving calls does not go till other end and most of the times I miss the call. While browsing photos in the album a small touch either makes the photo size big or small or it gets open. I have never faced any issue with the phone till date I have been using it for last more than two years. This is the first issue i have come across for last three days. As suggested by you in your above thread I have clear data going in settings, but still it is same. Kindly suggest.

Hi, that did allow me to clear the data from xperia keyboard. Unfortunatley the problem of keys still not working remains. Could it be a membrane fault?

Exactly this. I too have the problem answering a call. I'm wondering If it's a membrane fault. I've just asked. Hope we get a resolve soon.

Are you both able to perform a test in Diagnostics to see if the touch screen is working correctly.

Apps > Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Tests > Touch Screen

Can you let me know the results please.

Yes I am able to do the diagnostics for the touch screen where I can clear the screen as part of the test. I feel the problem with the screen is on the lower part of the touch upper part of the screen touch seems to be fine, thats what I feel. I have even removed the screen protector to see if that would have any impact but it does not have any change. Phone is intact and there is no physical abuse to it. It should be some software problem.

I've been doing the instruction as you say.

I do first test in the diagnostic screen. it work
But like something was missing, because I slide not all clean on one slide need some time. so the screen can be clean. Then I did a test on the keyboard all the key functions of normal, but not with the key w.
I think why?

Are you able to boot the handset into Safe Mode and let me know if the issue continues, it is possible that the issue is third party related and a Safe Mode boot will help determine this.

I did the safe reboot and other steps, problem not solcbed. I habce rescaled my keyboard and the problem has shifted to a different set of keys indicatinf a cbertical fault line within the screen, not the software.

It used to be that the letter b would not refhister, but since I rescaled the keyboard it shifted to the letter ccbvbc b. And fhff b hg. To To be clear I mean the letter ccbvbc b v and v fghgfggg.

So, I will stop explaininffh which letters are busted. Needless to say, this is annoyinf.

I've got exactly the same problem.

The phone is in great condition, I've used Case-Mate hard case and dedicated glass. The screen isn't broken or even scratched.

I've used many phones made by other producers and never had a problem like that. When new, it was one of the most expensive phones on the market...

Sony how can you help?

I am jhaving the same priobnlrem qwiyh my keyboard. It's as if it's super sensitive re and there aitocorrtwect has gone hayqwierwe.

I nwrwrred a fix!!

Also can't ssdo sumbols such as reexclasmation. Point from main keyboard.

I have left words unchanged so you you can see the problem.

Hi jake - I have this problenm too. Ran the test and there is a thin area (2 mm) along edge of screen lower right side which does not pass - which is why I cannot type 'p' easily (unless I turn on side - but then the delete key doers not work). its not completely lost -but very hit and miss from hour to hour whether i can use the keys at the very edge of screen. Do I take it back to the shop? (Currys UK)

This has just started happening with our Z3 as well. I don't think it's a software problem because

1) only the H and B key are affected by the issue

2) if i rotate the phone to landscape, all they keys are fine

So that implies there's something wrong with the touchscreen itself at the spot where the H and B keys are in portrait, no? Maybe not, because on the numbers/symbols keyboard, all the keys work fine, even the ones in the same spots as the H and B.

I've tried running in safe mode, and uninstalling the keyboard software updates, but it's still a real problem, and has made the phone practically unusable for texts. I really hope Sony has a solution for this!

Same problem on my z3 in portrait mode, letters h and b effected, clearly a phone problem rather than softwhere. What are you doing about this sony?

I have the same problem..

It seems to have happened quite recently and only affects the 'W' key.

I've marked the region of the screen where the 'W' sits.. I rotate the phone to get 'W' to work, however the screen responds in other apps where the 'W' sits in portrate mode..

I think this has to be a software issue..
