Hi @Jonas

This doesn't happen always but when it does I'm not even using the phone. Imagen my phone on my desk and I notice that the message light is flashing, so I grab my phone and when I press the power button to unlock it it doesn't do anything, stays black. For it to come 'alive' I press power button and volume to restart.

Because it happens randomly I can't really plan on using safe mode.

This never happened while using the phone.

Thank you for your time

Diana

Hi again!

Thanks for the great information.

I understand that having your phone in safe mode for a longer period of time isn't optimal since this does occur at random times, however safe mode is a important part of the troubleshooting when experiencing this type of behaviour to see if this is caused by a downloaded application or not.

If you have a SD card in your phone you can also trying removing it temporarily and see there is any change, since a defect SD card can cause the phone to shut down.

Should you experience the same behaviour while the phone is rebooted in safe mode / the SD card is not mounted in the phone, try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion.

Do note that the software repair will delete all data stored on the internal storage of the phone so creating a backup using Xperia Companion before you start with the repair is advised.

Keep me posted!

Hi there, would like to join topic as my xperia x (f5121) does the same thing since few days. I have tried all those thing like removing cards and running it in safe mode, by my observations nothing is helping. It does it completely randomly and once It will reboot it does it several times and rather will boot on or goes off and stay frozen so have to restart it. In my opinion it goes mad when gets a bit hotter or the power button somehow sticks pressed so it keeps rebooting, but if not I don't know what else...I have even made a factory reset which nothing changed. Last thing to try is software repair with companion or anyone with any ideas?

Cheers

SEB

Had the same error, but it occurs so rare that I don't bother with it, for now. Like once in 2 months.

Also, had the same behaviour while on Concept, so I doubt factory reset will change anything.

Best course of action, the way I see it , is what @Jonas said about trying running the phone without SD card, as faulty or corrupt SD card could really be the culprit.

Have you tried pluging to PC while holding volume down ? With Xperia Companion, or flashtool running ? I presume it was recognized before.

Have you tried holding volume down + power without being pluged to PC ?

If nothing helps, it's probably a repair centre route. Had the same problem on Z3, none of this solved it, they've replaced motherboard (as per their info) .

Hello everyone!

I'm sorry for my late reply, I have been on a extended vacation during the Easter holidays!

@elwislak, very sorry to hear about this.

I can see from your newest post that device is not starting up at all now, have you been in contact with your Local support team and they have arranged a repair for you yet? If you haven't done that, the last thing you could try is performing a software repair using Xperia Companion. This can be done without the computer detecting the device or if you aren't able to turn the device on. However if you experience the same behaviour after the software repair has been completed, your device will need to be examined by a trained technician at one of our authorized service centres.

@schetz, it is very hard to troubleshoot something that does not occur that often and having your device rebooted in safe mode for a longer period of time is not the most fun thing ever. You mentioned that this occurred while on the concept software as well and if I remember correctly you had to perform a software repair to get rid of this software and go back on the "normal" software right?

Do you recall if you are doing something specific when the reboot occurs, for example is it during a call or when using a specific application or service?

@Handmann, sorry to hear about your device.

Your question has been translated to English as this is an International forum.

Have you had the chance to take a look at my previous troubleshooting that I have posted in this thread? If you haven't done that, I would recommend starting with restarting your device in safe mode!

Keep me posted!
