Cannot install APK files

Hello everyone.

Since I got my XZ2 about a month ago, I have been looking all over the internet for a fix to my problem: I can download an APK file, but when i click on the "next" button to download it, nothing happens. The button isn't greyed out or anything, and it registers that I am clicking on the button, but nothing happens. No potential fix I have found on the internet has worked for me. At this point I'm desperate, and hoping someone can provide me with a solution to this problem. Thank you ahead of time for your help. (running OS 8.0.0)

I think this might have to do with the safety settings for the app.

I'm downloading APKs with Chrome and had to allow installation from there once.

Check Settings --> Apps --> App-Info --> Chrome --> unknown Apps: Yes

Unknown installation of apps is allowed. Chrome (or any browser for that matter) has no problem downloading the file. But when I go to my files and click on the apk, it takes me to my package installer. I can mash the next button all day but nothing happens. Same thing with other installers from the Play Store. I can click install, but it doesn't work. Im no stranger to android devices, and I've tried everything I can think of and that i can find online, but to no avail. Its past the point of frustrating at this point 😕

that usually mean that the app its not compatible with your device.

Well I'll be damned, that was the problem! Just tried a different apk and it worked fine. Thank you very much for your help

So this started happening when Amazon Flex did an app update. Until I figure out how to get it installed, I am out my primary income source.
