Z3 charging

Hi I've got an odd problem with my Z3. Recently I noticed the battery said 18% then when I next looked it said 38%. I used it and after 5 minutes the battery was dead. I did a full charge and it seemed to work fine. Then a few days later the charge indicator stuck at 50% and wouldn't budge. The phone was taking a charge at this point. A few days later and the phone no longer charges. I plug in the power supply (i've tried several so know its not cable/power charger related) and the light does not come on. It refuses to charge.

I can plug it into the PC and transfer files so I think I've rulled out a faulty charging port. It seems more software related. Has anyone suffered this fault and how on earth can I fix it?

Hi I did a full restore from the PCC. It still won't fire up charging.

Even in standby the red light light fails to show. When I go into status it says battery DISCHARGING even when plugged in.

The red light flashes for a second then goes out. I've now tried a brand new battery with the exact same result. 50% charged and not taking any power.

Its driving me up the wall. The new battery shipped with a note saying that a power amp sometimes blows when a battery fails. I can't see any mention of what a power amp is on a Z3
