Hello,

One week ago, I bought my phone and I recognize an issue about my front camera. When I do a video call on Skype or another video call app, I can see myself in the small window and everything is allright. But other person whom I call says my face covers whole screenlike my view zoomed 10 times. I tried video calling to another phone which was near to me and I saw my self the issue. It is really annoying. I have lollipop 5.1 version. However sorry for my terrible English.

Welcome to the community.

You mentioned that this issue happened with other video calling apps, what were they?

Can you take a photo/video using the front camera OK with the default app?

Have you tried Clearing Data/Cache for Skype and the "other video call app"?

Go to Settings > Apps > Skype/Video Call App > Press Clear Data/Cache

Then restart your phone.

Also, you could boot to safe mode and check the camera it work normally using the default camera app.

Boot Safe Mode:
Press and Hold Power Button > Tap and Hold "Power Off" > Tap on OK to reboot to safe mode.

To exit safe mode, just restart your phone normally.

I see. This is pretty sure an app-related problem. Have you tried reinstalling the app? And also have you tried video skyping with your Xperia M5 with other devices like PC or notebooks?

I just uninstalled app and installed again. I tried with laptop and I have no problem it works great. But I tried also again with other phone video calling and problem is still there. I don't think it is related with Skype. I used Skype so long and never seen a problem like this before. It all began with xperia M5. it is really a frusturating bug and still no solution.

The last thing i could think of is the unecessary deployment of Sony's SteadyShot™ feature.

Try this,(im using Xperia Z2,so it may differs, but try giving it a shot)

Go to Camera > Go to Manual > Switch to Video mode > Press Secondary Camera > Press on the Three Dots > Switch off SteadyShot™

Also try switch to Superior Auto then press the secondary camera and switch off SteadyShot™ as well.

Lastly, toggle all the Settings you can find within the Camera app and switch off all SteadyShot features.

This case is a little weird but i will try my best to help you through it.

Goodluck!

It sounds like it has something to do with how these apps are accessing the camera considering it is only happening on the third party apps. I don't have a solution no but @Ashroft98 seems like he's on the right path.
