z3 - help topics language ??

Something has happened in the last day or so and now whenever i choose the help topic under the 3 dots the language is swedish instead of english ?

everything else is ok,menus, keyboard etc all english as before.. what's happened ??

That's strange. Have you tried a simple restart?

thanks - all the other topics undeer the 3 dots are ok, in english..it's just the help option...which is a bit ironic.

This is really strange. Is your phone, by chance, from Sweden originally? Also, have you recently done an update to the software?

there was an upgrade a few weeks ago but this has only happened in last day or so. As for the phones origina, I bought it new 12 months ago from carphone warehouse, so I don't think it is. It's been totally fine for a year, and now this wierd thing. None of the other narratives in the phone are affected, it's just the help libraries in settings. I suppose they could haveupdated them and sent me the wrong one - but how would I check that...?

You can't really check it. It's such a peculiar issue that I am trying to rule out all the possibilities. Maybe a third party application might have had a weird effect on your phone? Seems unlikely, but can you test the phone in safe mode and see if it's the same there?

ok, thanks. I've just rebooted in safe mode and the problem is the same as before...

actually - while i've been on my phone's sony help section, and sent them a message (email) a postal address came up for Sony in Sweden. So maybe that's where it was made after all.

@z3novice, maybe it is, seems strange that it would only happen so suddenly though.

This might be a bit extreme for an issue like this, but have you tried a software repair?

My fone is exactly the same,
if I access any help from any settings menu, I go to everything printed in Swedish,
I've never noticed before because I've never used it, so I dont know if it's a new thing or been like that since last year
I presume the help section is on a cloud server and not installed on the phone
I've noted my ip address is rooted through Europe a lot as I've noticed with my email security diagnostics,so that might be the problem
Unfortunately I can't read Swedish to see if there is a language option on the menus somewhere

Ok,I've noted that there is a link half way down the page that's says Sverige-Andra,
upon clicking there, you get a choice of what browser to use
and when you choose one, you get redirected to your countries affiliated sites home page
but not to the relevant issue help page that was in Swedish.
I'm sure you can use that search bar there to get some answers,
but it does defeat the object of one click help, straight from the settings menus 3 dots

well, i'm glad it's not just me ...

The Sony app which leads me to a contact page, email etc..does anyone ever get an answer from Sony via this method..I mean the message disappears off into the ether, but there's no one at the other end ?

@z3novice, Yes, the message does come through to us, but it often comes as a blank message. If you need to get in touch with your local support I recommend you use the link in my signature. Were you able to try the software repair by the way?

havn't tried the B & R yet as I can't seem to make the options shown on the example.My phone gives one option only which is to either backup to google services or not, there is no option to backup to my SD card that I can see.

I also need to be sure I know how the restore wherever the backup goes so I don't lose everything..and I 'm not confident with this yet to try it.

The help facility in my phone doesn't work, and the guides don't seem to fit my phone.

so..i'm still stuck with swedish tbh I guess I needto give myself a couple of days to try and find out how the B&R all works, what this media go is, and i suppose why everything doesn't go to my cloud storage. Confused ? I sure am...

in my phone, the option is Backup & reset -

First option is Backup my my data - yes/no

backup a/c -entered

automatic restore - yes/no

Personal data

------------------

phone reset options

both the options are already set to yes.

At this point i'm stuck ? there's no option to SD card, and no apparent option to retrieve the data from whereever it went to.. Given I might lose EVERYTHING, and am not clear how this all works, i'm not going to try it out until I have clearer instructions.

I've read the guides you linked to , but there seem composite and not an exact fit to my phone.

All this is just so I can resetmy phone in the hope the Swedish language reverts back to English, with no actual guarantee it will work. The risk is too great for me...sorry.

Back it up to your PC using either PC Companion or Xperia Companion first.
