Hi all, i got the phone about 1.5 yrs ago and since a few days ago, unluckily just two days after i got and sold a new Z3 compact (contract extension), my Z1 compact is acting up.

A middle part of the display is not reacting to touch. This essentialy means that i cant use Apps that require me pushing a button in that part of the display. For example, i cant turn off my phone because the button to do that is exactly in the part of the display that isnt responding. I cant login to Instagram, because the field with the name to enter is also in the part that isnt responding.

I cant make corrections to a text i wrote in whats app after i wrote 3-4 lines. I can then not enter the first or first to lines because they will be in the non functional area.

Interestingly, the Display Test that you can do on the phone works. Swiping is working, pushing is not.

I wanted to use the repair support here, but i do not have a back up phone and am dependent on this phone, also for work, so sending it in before i have a new one wont work.

did anyone ever face a similiar issue and knows a fix maybe?

I didnt do anything different before the problem occured, no software update, it didnt drop or anything.

Thanks in advance

Hi uliwooly.

No cracks Making a backup should be no problem.

But i cant send in my phone for repairs because i need it for work. So i guess i need to buy a new one before i can get this one repaired.

I am now gonna send it in, but the BackUp via PC Companion is already taking around 1.5hrs.

Is this normal? The backup is 1.8 GB in size but this seems awfully long for a file that size.

edit: Now it crashed. When i want to start a new backup, it only tells me at the data selection screen that it will back up Pictures and music when before it said it will backup contacts, notes, calenders etc.
