M4 Aqua Flashlight not working

Hello,

My M4 Aqua's flashlight doesn't working. I tried also in safe mode and tried to repair with pc companion too. When i tap on flashlight icon and i would acces to camera, it shows an error of camera. Have you any suggestions?

Greetings,

My M4's flashlight is not working, I bought the phone from Vodafone Hungary 3 days ago. On the first day, I used it once, but now is dead, even in safe mode. Any suggestions? Oh, and it doesn't work with third party app either.

It looks like a hardware defect.

I will give you steps by which you could repair your phone's software to see if it fixes the issue, otherwise you will have to return the handset ( as soon as possible).

Update / Repair your phone via PC Companion

Download PC Companion and install it. Do not connect your phone until you're asked to do so.

Launch PC Companion > Start Support zone > Start Phone/ Tablet Software update > select Repair my Phone / Tablet > Follow the on-screen instructions it shows.

Can you check if the same occurs with a 3rd party app from google play?

What error do you get in the camera?

Settings > apps > all > camera > clear data > restart the phone > boot on safe mode

Alexdon: with 3rd party app the flashlight doesn't working too, the error is: Error, camera not available.

When i disable flashlight with flashlight icon (which doesnt working), i can access to the camera, but when i enable the flashlight i cant access

Has safe mode made any difference? Do you have OK google enabled?

No the safe mode not made any difference, and for "OK Google" i don't know i don't use it. Thank you anyway.

@uliwooly I hope you don't mind:

Performing a software repair using PC Companion.The process will erase all internal memory.You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery.

Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).

Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

I have the same exact problem. I have tried the pc suite fix exactly as you explained it @uliwooly. Nothing worked. It's really upsetting. Had such high hopes for the phone. And I'm not a heavy phone user. I'd like an answer to how to fix it. I've had this phone for going just over a month. Truly upsetting. Please advise me on how to fix it.

My flashlight is not working. I tried to use in safe mod. I tried to use sony pc companion but i didnt find a any solution.

Hi, a few weeks ago i've bought an Xperia m4, but from yesterday the flashlight doesn't work. I tried to format the device but the flash still doesn't work. Somebody can help me before take it to the assistance???

Hi Volendrug, welcome to the community!

Have you tried clearing the cache or data for the Flashlight app? If not please try this by going into Settings > Apps > All > Flashlight > tap Clear cache > test Flashlight > if doesn't work > go back and tap Clear data > test Flashlight.

Try running a software repair on the device to see if that helps, it is very likely to.

Backing up using PC Companion:
1. Go to Support to install PC Companion on a Windows computer.
2. When installed, start PC Companion on the computer.
3. Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
4. Click Start under Backup & Restore.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
(Exactly what contents will be backed up may differ depending on phone model.
You can view detailed information about this as you follow the steps in the Backup & Restore wizard).

Running the software repair on PC Companion:
1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
2. Phone Software Update.
3. Start.
4. Repair Phone
5. Continue
6. Accept data removal
7. Next
8. Wait for prepare
9. Select Phone
10. Follow the connection steps

Flash not working

I purchased M4 Aqua dual just a weak before I used the flashlight as torch afterthat it stopped working tried switch off, restart or safe mode still problem persists. also tried switch off phone for 5 hours.
