Reboot-loop when restarting device after lollipop update

Hi,

I have got an xperia Z3 device and so far everything has been working fine. Since the latest android update however (lollipop), my phone is constantly rebooting itself, when i want to perform a simple restart. I tried the pcc repair tool twice already. it works, but as soon as i want to restart my device, it gets stuck in a reboot loop.

I also tried removing the sim card. It still gets stuck in a reboot loop.

The question I now have is the following. Is this problem gonna fix itself with an update / bugfix or similar, or do i really have to return my phone and get a new one?

Do you have an sd card inserted? Tried without it?
Also try booting in to safe-mode.

How to boot on safe mode on Lolipop

Press and hold the Power button > wait for the pop up comes up > once it does > press and hold Power Off > wait > wait > a new pop up will appear > Boot on safe mode

thanks for your response.

I used pcc repair tool once more and removed my sd card before.

I tried safe boot --> worked.

I then restartet normally --> worked!

I am not sure though, if my problem is solved now. What will happen if I put my SD card back in ?

Is this a known issue that already has a workaround? Should i format my sd card before putting it back in?

I would really like to use my sd card.

At least i can use my phone again, i appreciate your support! Any futher information are welcome.

You could try re inserting it. It may well be corrupted. A format may help it may not. But worth a shot.

Hi to all,

I have a big problem with my Xperia Z3, I updated it lollipop 5.0.2 couple of days ago. It worked fine with no issue until yesterday (Saturday 04.04.2015) when I left it in my car for the gym session as always. When I came back to check missed calls, I couldn’t access the phone at all, only a black screen and I could see a clock and partial notification bar. I switched it off and the on again.

Now its stuck at” Android upgrading, starting apps” all the time and it keeps restarting. I have tried to soft –reset nothing is happening. I have reached at a level to lose everything in the phone especially my contacts by deciding to do a hard/factory reset but still I cant do that using volume up or down. I am totally stuck, I also tried to boot into recovery mode but with no luck.

Please guys any idea how to get rid of this. I cant get into recovery mode coz nothing is happening when I press key combination.

I will appreciate your help. At this point I regret why I updated my phone to lollipop.

Please help help………

Try performing a system repair using PC Companion - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

Thanks for quick response, unfortunity the phone keeps on resparting all the time and it cannot arrow the sony pc companion to detect it. I am totlally stuck becuase i can do nothing not even recovery more nor factory reset becuase i cant access main manu or to unlock it, I have attached a pic of of the roop.

Are you saying your phone isn't recognised in flashmode or are you not performing it correctly - you don't select update

Hi Thommo,

The phone is not recognised, the moment it switches on before pressing unlock screen, it starts "upgrading android apps, starting apps" from there, i can do nothing then after loading and loading then it fails, it reboots again and it keeps doing the same thing. When i connect to pc, it wont show up in sony companion becuase its still locked and i cant access anything on the screen as u can see in the image i upload. it pops up in the pc then restarts before its being recognised. .

I cant tell really what the heck is going on with lollipop. I haven't used flashmode yet i download the sony flashtool but then registered a new account but for reason, i cant get my account approved coz i dont recieve the comfirmation email. and i have tried two gmail accounts

Please advice if there is any other way i can resolve this becuase at the moment i dont have another option coz my sim isn't compatible with other ordinary phones.

How do i perform a system repair when the phone cant be detected properly in sony pc companion. Please guide me coz i cant do anything since the phone just load and then fails then restarts all the time. the Sony PC Companion require the device be unlocked to access it.

Hey Mate!

How does it exactly work?

I pressed the power button, then the sony logo comes up, then the android logo and then there's the blue sony flow.

At which point I have to press and hold the power off button? And how long?

Hi guys, I managed to perform a repair on my sony Z3 thought i lost everything on the phone, I had no backup at all. It updated successfully and i started from scratch.

I used Sony PC Companion, I Hard Switched off the phone then unpluged from the pc, Then i followed instruction.

Hello, got the same problem and was able to do the repair. The Phone hangs in an endless loop. If i turn it of, wait a few minutes it goes a bit further. After several reboots (with waiting time) i can go through the setup process, but the phone is only usable a few minutes and then reboots. It sometimes also gets a faulty screen (like it is broken in the under half, but only sometimes).

Before the update everything was fine, even after the rollout it worked for 2 days and then problems began.

have you tried restarting the phone with removing the SD card and or SIM card before? in my case the corrupt SD card was the problem. after I formatted it and put it back in everything was working well.

Yes i did, first i never had an sd inserted. Without the sim it doesn't work either

Could it be a HW error caused by Lollipop?

Hello,

I got the same problem like a few others after updating android. My Xperia Z3 is starting booting all the time, but it doesn´t start. I tried rebooting with and without memory card, but it won´t work. I cannot connect the Z3 with my computer to save all data because it won´t start a connection, cause it´s still booting. I also tried the hints of rebooting in safe modus, but I can´t start the safe modus.

What can I do now? Is there anything else I can do to start the phone?
