Hi, many 'tricks' on how to dry out your phone from rice to even shooting a few 4k videos to let the Z2 heat up (if you can get it to shoot a video) BUT at the end of the day you are left with a phone that is probably not waterproof

Best option is to take it back to where you purchased it & see what they say OR contact your local Xperia Care Centre but insist on a VACUUM TEST.....this will determine if it is indeed waterproof with the flaps etc tightly closed....

Good luck :smileysmileywink:

I have purchased my Sony Xperia™ Z2 on 2nd July, 2014, and after 2 and half months I have used my Sony Xperia™ Z2 in swiming pool water less than 30cm deep and for less than 15 minutes.

It was working very well until the battery charged. After 5 - 6 hours I tried to charge my phone but it was not charging after battery got over my phone got switched of and still it is dead. Now it is only showing charging red light sometimes but not getting charged. I kept my phone in the rice with opened slots for two days but still my phone is dead. Finally I went to the Sony service center they have checked my phone and said my phone is water damaged the warranty is void.

It is not my fault, Sony says Sony Xperia™ Z2 "The world’s best camera and camcorder in a waterproof smartphone*" Then I want to know how my phone got water inside. Your service center decides themselves that my phone has water inside and now warranty will be void.
Please help me what to do?

Not much you can do, if sony says the warrenty is void, then thats it. You can try talking to someone higher up in sony to see if anything can be done.

i had a similar story to yours but in my case I was rinsing it under fresh bottled water when I noticed a black dot appear on the screen. at first I thought it would go away if I left it out to dry but it never did. I sent it to the service centre in Toronto ( im in Vancouver, BC) $40 bucks later in shipping they tell me. Nope CANT be fixed sorry nothing we can do. i told them what happened. They tried to just get rid of me but Im still here fighting them. it has now been over a month and a half and appearently they are still taking it up to upper management. In my job I am the complaints officer so if they think there just going to tell me the same thing they have been telling everyone else, there wrong and Im just going to climb up so far up there **bleep** they'd wish they should have scrapped the whole IP certification all together!

I am in the same boat as everyone else. I was given my phone as a gift and after having it about a week, I was next to a jacuzzi & a few drops of water splashed on the phone so if course I show them dry it off & I noticed the display not lighting up. The backlight had gone out
Sent phone into Sony for a warranty repair and I get the phone back with a note saying unrepairable due to liquid getting inside and causing corrosion to parts. Well, if this phone is claiming to be water proof, then why dont they fix it. If course liquid got inside from being splahed, but if the phone water proof, then how did it get inside?? I have had the matter escalated within Sony. Willy see how that works out.

Hi @medo138

I am sorry to read that. Please, first run a backup of the device information. Perform a system repair using PC Companion or Bridge for MAC. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery. Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds) Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process. If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP. Keep us updated.

To all those who have suffered water damage I can only sympathise. However I have noticed that the flap covering the usb port on my Z2 doesn't always seem to be perfectly seated. This may be the case for others too, so water has managed to find its way into your phone.
Well it can be a manufacturing defect in the phone or the flaps were not tightly closed....
SONY claims Z2 is an waterproof device and their claim is right....
I have used Xperia Z and now writing this from Z2...and I have really tested both phones with real testing like drop tests and water tests many times on Z... But Z survived in every test and even with my Z2, I have tested its waterproofing many times and it always survived with no problems at all...
I suggest you contact your store from where you purchased the phone or repair it from a local store
