Please do try the above, however do you have either a secondary SIM you can try in your phone or another phone you can try the SIM in? For the handset to be locked to another network it should be giving you an error saying "SIM Network Unlock PIN".

not recognising sim

Hi, I just got a Sony Xperia Z2 and have inserted a new 3 mobile micro sim. The mobile is not recognising it despite the fact that I have inserted it the right way and continues to flash up with a message: sim not inserted. Insert sim and restart phone. I have tried this multiple time and contacted 3 in case there was a fault with the sim, however they advised me to contact you. It also momentarily flashes up at the bottom of the lockscreen 'sim/ruim is perso locked' before returning to the 'no sim inserted. No signal' please help?

If you have a dial pad then dial *#*#7378423#*#* then open Service info then Sim lock - If you see an X like this [X] some txt and a number 0 then it is hard locked if you see a number instead of a 0 then that is how many tries you have to unlock it but if you see[ ] some txt then the number 0 then it is unlocked

Have tried both suggestions with no results, the first suggestion came up with [ ] 0 and the second suggestion did not work

Of hear it could be a faulty sim reader, I had a new Z2 and apparently by inserting a sim can damage the pins on the reader, utterly mental, if it's a sim reader be prepared to part with over £135 for the pleasure of sbe repairing it as the sim reader and pins are NOT under the warranty at all, I know as I have been down this road, hope to see my moans on watchdog
