Yes, only data from the phone memory should disappear. But since you're having boot problems there is no way to tell if you have some errors in the internal storage which my lead to loss of data.

Boot your phone in safe mode, see if that helps and if you can:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008

If this does not work, repair via sony update service as there is no other way:

http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/

Hi,

Yes, you can press and hold volume down during the startup to start the phone in safe mode.

Since Xperia V have a phone memory and an internal storage. Your picture should not disappear when you are repairing the phone software as long as there are no errors in the internal storage.

Pictures are saved to the internal storage and it's the phone memory that gets wiped when you repairing the software. However, contacts, messaging and such will be deleted when you repairing the phone software.
