Xperia Play - the display does not work when portrait. Anyone had the same problem?

Suddenly my xperia has stopped working when i try to interact with it when the game pad is not open. i can lock it, but on unlocking the display simply shows me a pixelated screen and it is un-usable. However the phone functions normally when i slide the game pad out, i can send and recieve texts, the display and touch screen work fine e.c.t.

i'm not sure what to do and cant think why this would happen because the phone functions perfectly when the game pad is out. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi, is it a permanent problem now? If it is, see if it can be resolved with a software repair.

Here's the download link for Update Service, http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/. Download and install to PC/Laptop, launch it and follow on-screen instructions for software repair. This process will erase phone data completely, backup if necessary.

Hi again, no that hasn't worked unfortunatley. yes it is permenant, and its now lost all functionality. The screen when swtihed on initally works fine showing the "sony ericsson" name. but after it goes to a grainy grey screen.

I guess Uli is right, since it didn't work, the next step will be the Serivce Centre.
