I bought the XR42A90K at the beginning of November last year.

On the 17th of November a firmware update was posted on the download site,

I downloaded and installed via USB to take the software version to v6.6070.

In January or perhaps early February I noticed a new firmware update had been posted.

v6.6474 I think.

I download this new update but have not installed it yet.

Out of curiosity I revisited the downloads page again on Thursday

https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-oled-tvs-android-/xr-42a90k/downloads

and noticed that the Jan/ Feb update is no longer available and has reverted to the previous update

released in November.

I was wondering if anyone knows why this newer update has been removed and why.

Or if anyone has installed the Jan/ Feb update and if so have they come across any problems.

I am now cautious of installing it as previous Sony LED TV that I applied an update to caused the TV

to malfunction and had to be taken away to get the main board replaced. I don't really want a firmware update

to 'fry' this more expensive TV.

Are your sure you haven't downloaded the Firmware v6.6474 from the USA Support Site of 42A90K?

Hi @daveyh64

I downloaded and installed the v6.6474 update and have had zero problems (XR-55A95K). Strangely this happened exactly the same with the previous update. A new update appeared and was withdrawn after a few days. No doubt it will reappear at some time with a version like v6.6475! Sony don’t provide any clues to software withdrawals.

Hi thanks for replying, good to know you have not had any problems since updating to v6.6474.

I'll may be wait a few weeks and see if Sony re-list it as downloadable.

I don't think there was any major fixes in it anyway and the TV is working perfectly well at the moment.
