Sony KD-65XF9005 / X900F constantly starting and stopping external USB hard drive HDD on standby

It’s been always doing that, I’m on version 8.0.0 now, kernel 3.10.79 , it was doing the same thing with previous android version.

I’ve got another Sony TV kdl-50w705b and it’s doing exactly the same thing with a different hard drive, surely it’s not good for the HDD to start and stop it over and over again.

Any ideas if that’s normal behaviour and what’s going on?

Both hard drives are perfectly healthy, videos play fine.
