Sony Bravia mark on screen

I've recently purchased a SONY - BRAVIA KD65XF9005 65" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV and noticed a strange mark on the screen. It is approximately half a metre wide and looks like a smudge on the screen. We have tried to wipe it off with a micro fibre cloth but it does not seem to be on the outside. Is this normal and will it go away?

I would try to gently heat the part of the screen with a hair dryer to see if it goes away.

Was it already there when you bought the TV?

Thanks for the suggestion.

The mark was there on the day we took it out of the box 😕 which was a couple of days ago. You can't see it when the TV is on but I am worried there is fault behind the screen that is causing this mark to appear.

Hello @magotan42,

on a second thought replacing it would be best as suggested by @LightFoot.

To explain my suggestion very briefly - to me it looks like residue from some "cleaning" subtance - probably used to clean the glass before assembly.

By heating it up (carefully and slowly) you can see if said subtance evaporates.
