I have a 49xf9005 which has now updated its software automatically. Generally all is well, but there is one oddity. Since the update, every time that I switch it on for the first time of the day, it re-boots. Is this by design or is there some setting which will have changed?

Hi @pautaylo4

No it is not normal. I would try a factory reset.

https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-49xf9005/articles/00170595

SonyUser30Yrs,

Thank you for that helpful answer.

Just before I decide whether to do a factory reset (bearing in mind that in every other way the set is working fine), does a reset (as the name implies) put the set back completely to its original state, including the software version at the time, or does it re-load the new software as part of that process?

Hi @pautaylo4 A factory reset, resets it to the last installed software. So it will remain on the new software version but initialise everything so it’s like switching it on for the first time. This cures many glitches. Just checking by turning it on you mean out of Standby and don’t mean switching on the mains power.

Yes, I did mean turning it on out of standby. Perhaps I will try switching mains power off and on again before going the whole hog with a factory reset.

However, many thanks for your help.

Just in case anyone else has the same problem, I can confirm that switching the mains power off and on again seems to have sorted it.
