Turn on AF8 with Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa Issue

I cannot turn on my Sony AF8 with either Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. Both can set the volume, change hdmi input and turn the tv off but not turn it on from standby. The strange thing is if you ask either to turn the tv 'off' it does then right away ask either to turn it 'on' it does? If you leave it 'off' for a couple of minutes then it doesn’t turn on. Google Assistant does say 'turning on tv' but nothing happens. Alexa says 'provider is having trouble'.

Has anyone had the same problems?
