Problem playing DVD

Just bought 40" KDL-40WD653 TV. Picture is stunning but on attempting to play recorded items(Sony DVD)the picture often grinds to a halt. Whatever length of time the picture halts, is lost from the recording. Also noticed drop in sound quality. Volume is no problem, just quality. Do I need a sound bar?

Im unsure on the issue you are describing in regards to the DVD problem. Do you have a Sony DVD Player or another brand? Can you please reply back with the model number and further details? What type of DVD are you playing? Is it one made (or burnt) yourself or is it a shop bought DVD? Have you tried other DVDs? Those types of details would be handy.

In regards to sound quality - as TVs have got thinner, unfortunately there is only so much space a speaker can use. This is why many purchase a soundbar or alternative sound system. Investing in either a soundbar or other AV Sound system is definately worth it in my opinon.
